Genesee & Wyoming Inc. Fills New Senior Management Positions

Management and Technology Honored as 2002 Premier 100 IT Leader

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (GWI) (Nasdaq:GNWR - news) announced today that it has appointed Robert Grossman to the position of Executive Vice President, Government & Industry Affairs, Shayne Magdoff as Senior Vice President, Administration and Human Resources and Scott F. Ziegler to the position of Vice President, Operational Finance. Mr. Grossman formerly was Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Emons Transportation Group, Inc., a firm acquired by GWI on February 22, 2002. Mr. Ziegler was Sr. Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Secretary of Emons. Both will be headquartered in York, Pa. Ms. Magdoff has worked for GWI since 1987 and has been Vice President Administration and Human Resources since 1996. She is based at Genesee & Wyoming Railroad Services in Rochester, New York.
