Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (GWI) (NYSE: GWR) today named Matthew C. Brush to
the new position of Chief Human Resource Officer reporting to President
John C. Hellmann.

role of Chief Human Resource Officer in recognition of that fact and are

Brush previously led human resources for several global businesses and
developed a world-class human capital planning process at Corning Inc.
He brings 16 years of technical and leadership experience in human
resources at medium and large companies including union and non-union
manufacturing, restaurant, biotech and insurance firms. He has a
bachelor's in psychology from the University of Connecticut and a
master's in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University.
GWI is a leading operator of short line and regional freight railroads
in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia and Bolivia. Operations
currently include 48 railroads organized in 10 autonomous regions, as
well as service at 12 U.S. ports, contract coal loading and industrial
switching. GWI operates more than 6,800 miles of owned and leased track
and approximately 3,700 additional miles under track access arrangements.
